Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) also known as "knitbone" contains allantoin, a substance easily absorbed by the body that aids in the regeneration of healthy cells. It has been used to soothe wounds, swelling, bruises, arthritic joints, strained tendons, pulled muscles and broken bones. It is easy to grow in sun or shade.
