Product Description

Rich in fatty acids, vitamin E and vitamin A, lard is a timeless ingredient in soapmaking not only for its availability but for skin care benefits as well. It has the ability to bond to oil, dirt and grime while also being able to bond to water, thus able to rinse away clean. With this attribute in mind I used it to make an exfoliating hand scrub bar, for gardeners, mechanics, and those with hard working hands. Lard also is known for softening, soothing & moisturizing skin, so this bar is wonderful for body care as well! I added ground pecan shells (from local farmers at Voss Pecans ) for the exfoliating; also organic powdered orange zest (I've saved all winter, nothing goes to waste here!) for its natural limonene content. Limonene is known for helping remove grease & oils, is an antioxidant & can reduce inflammation on the skin. It has an uplifting woodsy/citrus/floral scent profile with the added essential oil blend, reminiscent of clove, orange & lavender. We pick our ingredients based on what we can provide ourselves or source from farms we know personally, keeping costs down, packaging and transport to a minimum. Using what is around us, plentiful & in season, the old fashioned way. I started making soap as a way to preserve & utilize the abundance of herbs we have access too; now I'm continuing to learn about all the benefits of the base oils as well! There is always more to learn! We get our organic, pasture raised pork fat locally from Turasky Family Farm , and render it ourselves which takes extra time. So we currently are only able to offer this soap directly from our market stand or online. 4 oz bar
